Frosted Glass

Frosted glass is one of those things that, when you see it, you just want to touch it. Think back to the fond days of being dragged into Hallmark because your mom needed to pick out greeting cards, feeling bored and hungry, wandering over to the candles to smell them all, and being told “look with your eyes, not with your hands.” This may have been one of your first opportunities to grasp a frosted glass votive holder, and your life probably changed from that moment.
Frosted glass is not only satisfying because of its creamy, translucent appearance. It also makes a fantastic gritty crunchy sound when you stack frosted glass cups inside one another, put on a lid to a frosted glass jar of some kind, or plop a candle into a votive holder. Frosted plastic tries to compete with its frosted glass cousin, but it can’t. Putting soda in a frosted glass is wicked satisfying. The bubbles cling to the side so you can actually see them pretty clearly, but the rest of the beverage becomes frosty and mysterious. Mmm. Mysterious cola.
Frosted glass figurines aren’t quite as satisfying, but that’s probably because figurines in general are usually kind of annoying. I saw this website on how to make your own frosted glass pathway LED lights for your yard a few weeks ago. They’re called sun jars. Not only solar powered, but frosted! It’ll bring a whole different kind of satisfaction to your “green home decorating” efforts. The best part - they MAKE FROSTED GLASS SPRAY PAINT. That’s right. You can literally turn any boring old shiny, fingerprint-showing piece of glass into a delicious frosty wonder. This is right up there with the chalkboard spray paint. Genius.
If you live by the ocean, you’re in for an even BIGGER treat. I think you know what I’m talking about - beach glass. It’s Nature’s frosted glass. Frosted glass is so satisfying that Mother Nature herself has caught on and created a way for beach combers nationwide to have the initial satisfaction of finding a big chunk of something cool in the sand, and then dusting it off to find a smooth, rounded piece of shipwrecked joy.
Does frosted glass shiver your timbers?

Wow! As your about page says: “this blog’s mission to help you find some satisfaction you might not have realized you had.” - You absolutely did that here! I had no idea that I could become THIS interested in frosted glass, yet I read every single word of this post from top to bottom… I don’t think I’ll ever see another frosted glass cup again without thinking of this post and wanting to stack 2 of them on top of each other just to hear that crunching sound!
What a great blog you’ve got here
I’m off to read some more posts!
Thanks, Christine! As you know I love your blog. I’m so glad that you found inspiration to go seek out satisfaction in your life! That is kind of the goal of this blog haha. I was beginning to worry maybe I was just psychotic and nobody else felt this way, but clearly I was mistaken. Enjoy!
